Video Calls on Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire

Solution This article will explain how to configure and make video calls from Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire.

SETUP

To configure video calls, tap on settings, then SIP Accounts, then your SIP Account. Tap on Advanced Settings, then Video for WiFi. Turn Enable Video on.

On this screen you will also see the following settings.

Resolution - You can use CIF or QCIF (CIF is selected by default). QCIF (or Quarter CIF) is lower quality, but will require less bandwidth.

Bitrate - You can configure Minimum and Maximum kbps, but we use an adaptive algorithm that should adjust to the network automatically.

After you've enabled video, just tap done and you're ready to start making video calls.

MAKING CALLS

Make a call as normal. If the SIP Client/SIP Device you are calling is capable of SIP Video, they should receive the option to accept the call as video.

When the call is connected, you will see a large box with the video you are receiving and a smaller box showing the video you are sending. If the other party is not sending video, you will only see the small box. If you turn off video, you will only see the larger box

These are the functions you will see on the screen by default

Top right - camera button - tap here to turn the camera on or off and switch camera from back to front
Top center - speakerphone and mute buttons
Top left - three dots - brings up the full in call options (this can also be done by double tapping anywhere)
Bottom center - end call

Tap anywhere once to hide these options, tap again to bring them back.

You can also pinch out or in to change the view to fill the screen or fit within the screen or rotate the device to switch to widescreen view.

Tapping on the the three dots will bring up the normal in call screen. You'll see the standard in-call buttons always displayed on voice calls in the app as well as a new camera button. Tap here to switch cameras, turn video off or go back to the normal video in-call screen.
